Garry Mulvay

Garry is the Executive General Manager of Wilmar BioEthanol which is Australia's oldest ethanol producer, dating back to 1901 when it was then part of CSR. Garry started life as a Research and Development Chemist before moving into various commercial roles. He has been involved in the ethanol industry for over 15 years and during this time has held a number of roles primarily in the Sales and Marketing areas before moving into his current role.

Wilmar BioEthanol is part of the Wilmar Sugar business (formerly CSR Sugar) which is a world scale sugar business with 8 Sugar Mills in North Queensland and 5 Sugar refineries spread across Australia, New Zealand and Indonesia.

Wilmar BioEthanol has an ethanol distillery in Sarina (North Queensland), that makes 60ML/year of ethanol from Molasses and also has a distillery in Melbourne which is primarily aimed at servicing the higher grade industrial markets.

Garry has a Degree in Chemistry and has completed the Advanced Management Programme at Harvard Business School.

Andrew White

Mr White is the Managing Director/CEO of Australian Renewable Fuels Limited (ARfuels). ARfuels is a listed ASX company with biodiesel plants in Victoria, Western Australia and South Australia. ARfuels is the largest producer and marketer of biodiesel in Australia, with 150 million litres of production capacity. It currently has supply arrangements with the major oil companies, transport and mining companies and export sales orders.

Prior to this role Andrew was a Director and Chief Operating Officer of Infrastructure Capital Group Limited, an investment management business with over $1 billion of equity funds under management and invested in infrastructure across Australia.

Andrew has been a member of Board and Management Committees for various large energy projects including Neerabup Power Station (330mW), Kwinana Power Station (320mW) and the Esperance Energy Project (336km Kambalda to Esperance Gas Pipeline and energy station).

With a chartered accounting background, Mr White also worked for 8 years with Arthur Andersen and 9 years in senior executive roles including Finance Director and Strategic Planning Director with Mars Inc. in Australia and New Zealand.

Dave Bodger

Dave is the General Manager of Ecotech Biodiesel. Ecotech is a 30 million litre pa production facility located 30 minutes north of Brisbane supplying biodiesel into the Queensland, Northern New South Wales and New Zealand markets. Established in Queensland due to the proximity to the Australian tallow industry, Ecotech also uses its state of the art technology to produce biodiesel from a variety of vegetable oils; primarily used cooking oil. Ecotech has enforced a strict no palm oil policy since the ownership was consolidated with the Rae family in 2005.

Dave has over 20 years’ experience in the oil industry in New Zealand and Australia; working for both oil majors and independent wholesale and retail companies and at Ecotech as a fuel production facility. Dave concurrently operates as General Manager for Gull New Zealand who have pioneered the introduction of biofuel blends for the Kiwi motorist.

Dave is married, with four children referees junior rugby and coaches junior water-polo in his limited spare time as well as serving as a School Board of Trustees Chairman.

Andrew Hill

Andrew is Managing Director of Biodiesel Industries Australia (BIA), which owns and operates Australia’s first commercial biodiesel plant, located in Maitland, NSW. In 2003, Newcastle City Council launched Australia’s first biodiesel fleet running on fuel supplied by BIA, and in 2006, BIA was the first biodiesel producer to contract with a major oil company (Caltex) to supply more than 600 million litres of biodiesel blended fuel in the NSW market.

Andrew grew up in the petroleum industry. His family’s business – Maitland Oil Distributors – was the regional distributor for Esso for many years. Recalling the fuel shortages of the 1970s, and encouraged by the Australian Government’s 2001 program, Biofuels for Cleaner Transport, Andrew built the Maitland plant in 2003.

John Honan

After completing a Bachelor of Agriculture and Economics at University, John Honan joined the Manildra Group in 1995 where he worked in the marketing area for the company. John is currently involved in the sales, marketing and management aspects of the business. Given the vast amount of experience and knowledge John has gained over the years he has now taken on the role as Managing Director for the Manildra Group.
 

 

Michael Ridley-Smith

Michael is currently the National Manager Product Marketing & Pricing for Caltex Australia with responsibility for marketing and pricing of all fuels, including alternative fuels, lubricants and fuel cards sold by Caltex Australia.  Most recently he has been leading the development and implementation of Caltex's biofuels strategies.  Michael has been with Caltex for over 11 years and has been fortunate to have had experience in a range of senior roles including Sales Manager Automotive and Industrial, Investor Relations Manager, CEO Special Projects Advisor, E-Commerce Manager and Legal Counsel.

Michael originally trained as a lawyer and worked as a solicitor in private practice before joining Caltex. Qualifications include a Science degree, Law degree and an MBA from the Australian Graduate School of Management.

Greg Strom

Greg Strom has been the General Manager of the Refuelling Solutions Group for the past 13 years and has a total of 33 years experience in the Australian downstream petroleum marketing and logistics industry. Refuelling Solutions is a national petroleum services organisation comprising of respected trading companies such as Mini-Tankers Australia, Maxi-Tankers, The Biodiesel Station and Broadwater Fuels.

Greg's career has covered diverse areas within the fuels industry such as retail, wholesale and industrial marketing for major oil companies such as Ampol and Caltex and has held senior national roles managing specialty products and card marketing. After joining RFS in 1999 Greg has helped steer the company to become the No.1 provider of specialty fuel and logistics solutions growing to become a top 500 private company in Australia.
